Survey Examines Referrals for Genetic Evaluation for Children With Significant Developmental Delay

A paper published in the Journal of Pediatrics reports that children with global developmental delay are at increased risk of genetic disorder but may not always be referred for genetic evaluation in a timely manner. Almost 75% of the physicians surveyed said they would not refer a child with global developmental delay to a genetic specialist as a first step.
