The recommendation from the North American Menopause Society and the American Heart Association that hormone therapy not be used specifically for vascular disease treatment or prevention remains sound, asserted Dr. McCullough, “but ‘good early, bad late’ may still hold true for estrogen,” she said. “The effects may be clearer for coronary disease than for stroke.”
