Author and Disclosure Information
Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a sensorimotor disorder, characterized by unpleasant sensations in the legs, that occurs mainly at night or during periods of inactivity. The sensations are typically accompanied by a compelling urge to move, and movement provides temporary relief. Patients with moderate or severe RLS report significant symptoms, including insomnia, daytime fatigue, reduced mental acuity, decreased motivation, occupational impairment, anxiety, and even frank depression.(1)
