Major finding: Fertilization succeeded in 75% of fresh oocytes and 67% of vitrified oocytes, good-quality embryos on day 3 were seen in 50% and 58%, respectively, and blastocysts developed by day 5 or 6 in 53% and 55%, respectively.

Data source: Comparison of IVF in 204 oocytes used for fresh embryo transfer and 186 oocytes that underwent vitrification and warming before transfer at one institution.
