Instructional video for fourth-degree obstetric laceration repair using modified beef tongue model
Brought to you by the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons. In this video, the authors demonstrate anatomic considerations and outline the steps in the repair of a fourth-degree obstetric laceration. Proper technique for repair, as well as each step of the repair, is demonstrated, including repair of: the anal epithelium with a second imbricating layer through the anorectal muscularis and submucosa; the internal anal sphincter; the external anal sphincter in posterior, inferior, superior, and anterior fashion; and the second-degree portion of the vaginal laceration and perineal body.
