The Food and Drug Administration has approved the Humira biosimilar Hadlima (adalimumab-bwwd), making it the fourth adalimumab biosimilar approved in the United States, the agency announced.
is approved for seven of the reference product’s indications, which include rheumatoid arthritis, polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis, plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, adult Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis.
The product will launch in the United States on June 30, 2023. Other FDA-approved adalimumab biosimilars –( ), ( ), ( ) – similarly will not reach the U.S. market until 2023.
Hadlima is developed by Samsung Bioepis and commercialized by Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp., a subsidiary of Merck & Co.
