Dr. Hierholzer is the associate chief of staff for research and education at the VA Central California Health Care System, Fresno and a health sciences clinical professor in the department of psychiatry, University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. During the initial preparation of this manuscript, Ms. Vu was a UCSF-Fresno summer biomedical intern. Ms. Mallios is a research analyst with the UCSF-Fresno Medical Education Program.
This study explores the prevalence of pathological gambling among veterans who seek counseling for such conditions as posttraumatic stress disorder, discusses the clinical implications of the findings, and suggests avenues for future research in this area.
