ABSTRACTMost patients with an acute coronary syndrome should start taking a statin drug while still in the hospital if they are not already taking a statin, according to recent studies. In this situation, a statin drug should be started if the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) value is 130 mg/dL or higher, or perhaps even 100 mg/dL or higher.
