ABSTRACTDual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) provides useful information about osteoporosis and fracture risk that, combined with other risk factors for osteoporosis, helps guide therapy. However, DXA is operator-dependent, making it imperative to refer patients to sites where the operators are experienced in this technology.
