ABSTRACTA number of controlled clinical trials provide evidence that angiotensin-receptor blockers improve the prognosis in a variety of conditions that place patients at high cardiovascular risk. The effect is more than one would expect from the effect of these agents on blood pressure alone. The results of some of these trials have expanded the indications for these drugs.
