ABSTRACTNew drugs to treat osteoporosis, along with two new minimally invasive surgical procedures, are important options for preventing vertebral compression fractures and treating severe back pain and disability. However, the mainstay treatments remain cautious use of analgesics, limited bed rest, and physical rehabilitation.
