Abstract
Conventional histopathology has been the basis for pathologic classification of most lung disease. In recent years, new immunohistologic methods based upon both immunofluorescent and immunoenzymatic techniques have expanded the scope and precision of diagnostic pathology and provided new insights into the patho-biology of disease. Pertinent methodology and principles and practice of interpretation are reviewed.
