Doug Brunk is an award-winning reporter who has been covering health care since 1991. Before joining the company, he wrote for the health sciences division of Columbia University and was on the editorial staff at Contemporary Long Term Care magazine when it won a Jesse H. Neal Award. He has a master's in magazine journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Doug is based in San Diego. |
M. Alexander Otto began his reporting career covering the pharmaceutical industry for a national pharmacists' magazine and freelancing for the Washington Post and other newspapers. He then joined BNA, now a part of Bloomberg News, covering health law and the protection of people and animals in medical research. Alex next worked for the McClatchy Company, a major newspaper chain. Based on his work, Alex won a year-long Knight Science Journalism Fellowship to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2008-09. He joined Frontline shortly thereafter. Alex has a newspaper journalism degree from Syracuse University and a master's degree in medical science -- a physician assistant degree -- from George Washington University. Alex is based in Seattle. |

Mitchel L. Zoler joined the company's Philadelphia bureau in 1992 and covers dozens of medical research meetings around the world each year. Previously, he covered medicine and science for publications including Medical World News, Cardiology Times, Urology Times, Hospital Practice, and Science Digest. A fellowship through the American Association for the Advancement of Science landed him at Newsweek early in his career. Mitchel has a Ph.D. in microbiology and did post-doc work in virology.
