Small NY study: Mother-baby transmission of COVID-19 not seen

Key clinical point: It appears that the coronavirus does not hurt the fetus during labor or during the early postnatal period in both preterm and term infants.

Major finding: Of 31 infants born to COVID-19–positive mothers, all infants tested negative, including two preterm babies.

Study details: Prospective study of 329 women tested for SARS-CoV-2 on admission to labor and delivery during the height of the COVID-19 surge in New York.
