Key clinical point: Neonates born to moms with gestational diabetes were as likely to have hypoglycemia whether or not their mothers had strict intrapartum blood glucose control.
Major finding: The mean first blood glucose level was 53 mg/dL for neonates born to mothers who had tight intrapartum control and 56 mg/dL for those whose mothers had liberalized control (P = .56).
Study details: Randomized, controlled trial of 76 women with gestational diabetes.
