Universal adolescent education on healthy relationships needed

Key clinical point: Education about safer sexual activities and healthy relationships should be universally provided to adolescent patients.

Major finding: Among all female adolescents who’ve had heterosexual sex, 12% reported reproductive coercion, and 17% reported relationship abuse.

Study details: Secondary analysis of 550 sexually active adolescent girls from a cross-sectional baseline survey who visited clinics in Northern California during the 2012-2013 school year.
