Stroke thrombolysis looks safe 31+ days after prior stroke

Key clinical point: Most risk from stroke thrombolysis following a prior stroke clusters in the first 30 days.

Major finding: Thrombolysis-induced symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage was 3.7-fold more common than in controls in the 14 days following a prior stroke.

Study details: Review of 40,396 acute ischemic stroke patients treated with thrombolysis at any of 1,522 hospitals in the Get With the Guidelines-Stroke program.
