Statins Reduce Risk of Early Poststroke Seizures

Key clinical point: Statin therapy during management of acute ischemic stroke may significantly reduce the risk of early poststroke seizures.

Major finding: The risk of a symptomatic seizure during the first 7 days of hospitalization for acute ischemic stroke was slashed by 77% in statin-treated patients.
