This last issue in the Pulmonary Practice Pearls for Primary Care Physicians series (Issue 14) with Dr. Barbara Yawn focuses on the burden of COPD exacerbations in patients with COPD and approaches for their management and prevention. The goals of this issue are to help primary care physicians:

  • better understand the role that exacerbations play in the progression of COPD
  • become more knowledgeable about the physical and psychological effects of COPD exacerbations on patients
  • become more familiar with the pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic approaches that can be employed to prevent future exacerbations
