Three or more nonadvanced adenomas no longer spell increased CRC risk

Key clinical point: The clinical significance of finding three or more nonadvanced adenomas has changed as a result of the move from standard to high-definition colonoscopy.

Major finding: The risk of metachronous advanced neoplasia on follow-up colonoscopy wasn’t significantly different between patients with three or more small nonadvanced adenomas at baseline and those with only one or two.

Study details: This was a retrospective study of 3,377 patients who underwent their first colonoscopies in the era of high-definition colonoscopes.
