Cirrhosis model predicts decompensation across diverse populations

Key clinical point: A prognostic model that uses serum albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) and Fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) scores can identify patients with cirrhosis who are at high risk of liver decompensation.

Major finding: During model development, the hazard ratio for decompensation was 7.10 among patients with high risk scores.

Study details: A prognostic modeling study including 145 patients in the development stage and 234 patients in the validation stage.

Disclosures: The study was funded by National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Nottingham Digestive Diseases Biomedical Research Centre based at Nottingham (U.K.) University Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Nottingham. The investigators declared no conflicts of interest.
