Providing timely care for patients with severe asthma is key to successful treatment. Dr. Sandra G. Adams leads a virtual discussion with Dr. Diego Maselli Caceres, Dr. Sandhya Khurana, and Dr. Ramon Reyes, in which the panelists talk about the triggers and treatment options available, and how accurate assessment and education can help identify triggers and minimize symptoms.

Video 1: Persistent asthma diagnosis and evaluation

When evaluating patient controls for persistent asthma, one of the most essential steps is to determine the symptoms. This roundtable begins with an overview of the Strike Three Rule and the Rule of Twos, clarifying the primary diagnostic checkpoints for controlled or non-controlled asthma based on 3 key factors: 1) Whether or not the patient uses albuterol; 2) How often they use it and if it’s based on long-term or short-term need, and 3) Nighttime symptoms.
