Poor oral health predicts children’s school problems

Key clinical point: Poor oral health in children is significantly associated with problems at school and school absences.

Major finding: Children with at least one dental problem were approximately 50% more likely to have problems at school (OR, 1.56) or miss 1 school day (OR, 1.54).

Study details: The data come from the 2016 and 2017 waves of the National Survey of Children’s Health and include 45,711 children aged 6-17 years.
