Vitamin D supplements in pregnancy boost bone health in offspring

Key clinical point: High-dose vitamin D supplements in pregnancy can improve the bone health of offspring.

Major finding: At 6 years, children in the vitamin D group had an 8-g greater mean total-body-less-head bone mineral content, compared with those in the placebo group.

Study details: Prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 623 pregnant Danish women and their 584 children.
