Key clinical point: Educating psoriasis patients about their disease may positively impact long-term management.
Major finding: Of 53 patients that completed a psoriasis questionnaire, 24 chose to receive additional education. The patients who received the education “showed a significant increase in knowledge, self-expertise about the disease and amelioration of general health.”
Study details: Patients that regularly went to their psoriasis visits were asked if they would like to receive additional education on psoriasis. Fifty-three patients filled out one questionnaire at study inclusion; of these patients, 24 filled out another questionnaire at their subsequent visit. The questionnaires included an assessment of their disease knowledge and therapy adherence and satisfaction.
