Fluorouracil Effective in Reducing AK Lesions

Key clinical point: Fluorouracil cream was more effective in reducing AK lesions, compared with 3 other AK treatments in head-to-head trial.

Major finding: Nearly three-quarters of patients with actinic keratosis achieved treatment success with 5% fluorouracil.

Study details: A randomized trial compared four different field-directed treatments – fluorouracil, imiquimod, MAL-PDT, and ingenol mebutate – in 602 patients with AKs.
