Weight-Loss Efforts in Endometrial Ca Survivors

Cochrane; 2018 Feb 1; Kitson, Ryan, et al

There is insufficient evidence to determine if combined lifestyle and behavioral interventions are helpful in women with a history of endometrial cancer, according to a Cochrane review of 3 randomized controlled trials involving 161 individuals. Among the findings vs controls receiving usual care:

  • There was no benefit for endometrial cancer survivors from receiving lifestyle advice in terms of survival, cardiovascular events, or quality of life.
  • Such interventions were not linked with significant or serious harms to participants.
  • There were higher rates of musculoskeletal symptoms in those participating in the interventions.

Some women lost weight while others did not, leading the authors to conclude that intervening in this way has little or no benefit.
