Patients with COPD plus sleep problems should be screened for mood disorders

Key clinical point: Patients with COPD and sleep problems were significantly more likely to also have depression.

Major finding: All four measures of health-related quality of life were significantly associated with higher COPD and Asthma Impact Scale scores (P = .006 for SGRQ; P = .037 for SF-36, P < .001 for HADS, and P = .01 for CSES)

Study details: The data come from a multicenter, cross-sectional study of 245 adults with COPD.
