Checklist may improve quality measures in the surgical ICU

Major finding: Compared with standard management, use of a checklist was linked to significantly shorter hospital length of stay (23.9 vs. 9.5 days), shorter ICU length of stay (13.0 vs. 6.5 days), and fewer ventilator days (7.7 to 2.8 days).

Study details: Retrospective analysis of 200 consecutive patients admitted to the surgical intensive care unit.
