RECOVERY: Early SAVR benefits asymptomatic severe AS patients

Key clinical point: Early surgical aortic valve replacement is viable in asymptomatic severe aortic stenosis.

Major finding: Rates of operative or cardiovascular death at 8 years were 1.4% for surgery and 25.5% for controls.

Study details: RECOVERY trial analysis of 145 patients with asymptomatic, severe AS randomized to SAVR within 2 months of diagnosis or conventional treatment during July 2010 to April 2015.
