Tendyne device shows promise for mitral annular calcification

Major finding: Mitral regurgitation was eliminated and quality of life scores greatly improved at 6 months’ follow-up in a feasibility study of the transcatheter Tendyne device for treatment of severe mitral annular calcification.

Study details: This was a feasibility study of the Tendyne transcatheter mitral valve device in 11 patients with severe mitral annular calcification at prohibitive surgical risk.
